Who created Roblox

Roblox is the world’s reigning online gaming platform. People use it to play games developed by other Roblox players. The fact that it enables people to make their own games and allows other users to play those games appeals to many.

If you are an avid Roblox player and are curious about the game’s origins and want to find out who created Roblox, continue reading to find out.

Roblox’s history

Roblox started operations in 2004 post the launch of Roblox Corporation. After the beta version in 2005, the Roblox developers David Baszucki and Erik Cassel officially launched it in 2006.

Initially, it was launched for PCs, while the iOS version and android version were released in 2011 and 2014, respectively.

David Baszucki’s earlier venture was Knowledge Revolution, which was built around mechanical simulation software and educational physics. It was here that Baszucki created Interactive physics, which was a general-purpose physics simulator. Eric Cassel later joined him.

In 2004, David Baszucki and Erik Cassel left Knowledge Revolution after MSC software had bought shares in the company and founded Roblox corporation.

While the first Roblox logo was launched in 2004, it underwent changes as the company continued to evolve. Over the years, makers have integrated various features in Roblox games.

Roblox’s features

David Baszucki conceptualized Roblox as a platform that would allow Roblox players to enjoy user-generated content by game developers and make their own world. Users could create their own games and share them with other users. Users could make in-game purchases through the virtual currency called Robux.

Initially, there was not a lot of focus on its promotion, and other popular games overshadowed it at that time.

To make it safe for kids who constitute a large number of Roblox users, the game developers integrated safe chat features through predefined messages. Moreover, users can create, purchase, and sell virtual items in addition to playing games.

Players can use these items to decorate their virtual characters in a Roblox game. Any user can buy clothes, but only players who have a premium membership can sell them.

The premium membership service called the Builders club was released in August 2007, which was later renamed Roblox premium. Many users develop products as full-time jobs and earn money.

A Developer Exchange program was launched in 2013, in which users could exchange Robux earned from their game development and get real-world currency.
