How to Add an Accent Mark in Word
Hi, I'm Tracy with TechImperatives.net. Today, I am going to take you through a simple step-by-step guide on how to add an accent mark in Word. It's not as complicated as it may seem.
Using the Ribbon Method
Step 1: Highlight the letter
In your Word document, simply click and drag over the letter you want to add an accent to, highlighting it.
Step 2: Open the “Insert” tab
At the top of your Word window, click on the tab labelled “Insert”.
Step 3: Click on “Symbol”
In the toolbar that appears under the “Insert” tab, find and click the “Symbol” button.
Step 4: Choose “More Symbols”
A dropdown menu will appear when you click on “Symbol”. Click on “More Symbols” at the bottom of this menu.
Step 5: Find your accent
A new window will appear, showing all available symbols. Scroll through until you find the accent you want, select it, and hit “Insert”.
Using Keyboard Shortcuts
Alternatively, certain Word programs allow you to use keyboard shortcuts for specific accents. For instance, holding “Control + `”, followed by the letter e, will give you “è”. Every specific accent has a different combination.
